PDF Files

PDF files can be created in many different ways with all of the new software and technology
available today. PDF files that are submitted for Print Reproduction however need to be treated
a little differently, proper settings need to be applied to these PDF’s.

All fonts need to be embedded unless you know that we have that particular font.
Resolution needs to be set to: 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) for Bitmap images
2400 DPI for Monochrome bit map images
When in doubt create all PDF’s at the highest resolution possible for Printing purposes.

Images within a PDF have to be at least 300 DPI for good high quality printing. Images in a PDF
should NEVER have RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colors used, the colors in a PDF file should be
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). Spot colors can be used if they are Pantone PMS Colors,
Spot colors should never be created of RGB colors.

Compression of PDF files can get a little tricky. ZIP compression is OK, however JPEG
compression will result in unprintable PDF files. We prefer that PDF files do not get compressed
so as to avoid these problems.
